Reviewer verdict
Across 18 YouTube reviews, the Dell Precision 5690 earns a Summa score of 4.1/5, ranking #17 among Laptops. Reviewers most often praise its performance, design & build quality, other, while the most common criticisms concern performance, design & build quality.
The Dell Precision 5690 is lauded as a premium mobile workstation that expertly balances immense power with a sleek, durable aluminum design. It's engineered for demanding professional workflows, featuring the latest Intel Core Ultra processors and potent Nvidia RTX Ada graphics that handle tasks like 3D rendering, CAD, and 4K editing with ease. Reviewers frequently highlight its excellent display options, including a color-accurate 4K OLED panel, and its surprisingly strong battery life for a machine of this class. The robust cooling system ensures stable performance under sustained heavy loads, while a comprehensive port selection and user-replaceable storage via dual M.2 slots add to its versatility, making it a top choice for professionals.
The most significant drawback is the lack of user upgradability, as the RAM is soldered to the motherboard, a major limitation for a premium-priced workstation. This high cost, especially for top-tier configurations, is a frequent point of criticism. Users also noted the absence of built-in USB-A ports, forcing a reliance on adapters for legacy peripherals. While the cooling system is generally effective, the CPU can run hot and the fans can become loud under sustained heavy workloads. Some reviewers also found the 1080p webcam to be underwhelming for such an expensive machine.
