Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces Booster Box

Reviewer verdict

Across 10 YouTube reviews, the The Pokémon Company Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces Booster Box earns a Summa score of 3.5/5, ranking #2 among Board Games & Card Games. Reviewers most often praise its gameplay, components/quality, theme/setting, while the most common criticisms concern gameplay, value/price.

Reviewers consistently praise the set for its stunning artwork and impressive illustration rares, calling it one of the top Scarlet & Violet releases. The primary appeal lies in its valuable chase cards, including powerful Paradox Pokémon like Raging Bolt EX and Iron Crown EX, as well as a popular Gastly evolution line. Many find the experience of opening packs enjoyable, with a good chance of pulling desirable hits. Elite Trainer Boxes are also highlighted as a great value, containing exclusive promo cards, attractive dice, and nine booster packs. For fans of the video games, the set's strong connection to the Scarlet & Violet era gives it a unique identity and solid investment potential as a 'dark horse' pick.

The most significant drawback is the dramatically decreased pull rate for hits compared to previous sets, a point mentioned by nearly every reviewer. This makes special illustration rares and other chase cards exceptionally difficult to obtain, often requiring hundreds of packs. The scarcity has led to market manipulation and price volatility for key singles, frustrating collectors. Furthermore, the set is seen as polarizing; its heavy focus on Paradox Pokémon may not appeal to everyone, and it lacks the broad character appeal of other releases. Beyond a few top cards, the set is perceived to lack depth, making booster boxes a risky and potentially unrewarding investment for those hunting specific cards.
