AVR-X1700H

Reviewer verdict

Across 17 YouTube reviews, the Denon AVR-X1700H earns a Summa score of 4.2/5, ranking #39 among AV Receivers. Reviewers most often praise its features, sound quality, connectivity, while the most common criticisms concern features, sound quality.

The Denon AVR-X1700H is widely praised for packing a comprehensive modern feature set, with reviewers frequently highlighting its extensive HDMI/8K video support, HDMI 2.1 gaming features (4K/120, VRR, ALLM), HEOS multiroom streaming and broad streaming/voice compatibility (mentioned across many reviews). Reviewers also commonly commend its immersive audio capabilities — Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Dolby Atmos height virtualization — and consistently note good room calibration and clear, dynamic sound. Connectivity and ease-of-use are recurrent positives as well, with many reviewers pointing to plentiful inputs (including phono and dedicated 8K HDMI inputs), Arc/eARC, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi, and a straightforward on-screen setup with Odyssey room correction. Several reviewers additionally call out solid power/performance for a 7-channel AVR and generally strong build quality and value for the price point.

Criticisms are less frequent but consistent around a handful of limitations: reviewers note missing advanced features (no Auro, limited multi-channel expansion like no 9.2/11.2 or DTS:X Pro, and limited independent subwoofer control) and some HEOS and voice-control rough edges. A number of reviewers also flagged modest power when all channels are driven (80 W per channel spec and possible drop under multi-channel load) and occasional sound coloration or distortion at high volumes or with demanding loads. Connectivity and I/O limitations were mentioned by some reviewers too, including a relatively limited number of HDMI inputs compared with some competitors, lack of amplified Zone 2, and absence of main-channel pre-outs.
