Reviewer verdict

Across 15 YouTube reviews, the Denon AVR-S770H earns a Summa score of 4.6/5, ranking #7 among AV Receivers. Reviewers most often praise its features, other, connectivity, while the most common criticisms concern features, connectivity.

The Denon AVR-S770H is widely praised for packing current video and gaming features—reviewers frequently highlight its 8K/HDMI 2.1 support, 4K@120Hz passthrough, VRR/ALLM/QFT and broad HDR format compatibility (mentioned across many reviews). Many also note strong connectivity and streaming options, including built‑in HEOS, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, multiple HDMI inputs (three 8K inputs called out) and voice assistant compatibility, which appeared repeatedly. Audio capabilities and immersive formats (Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, upmixing like Dolby Surround/DTS Neural:X and virtual height technologies) and Denon’s Odyssey room correction were consistently praised for delivering good sound and easy setup. Across the 15 reviews the most frequent positive themes were feature set/modern video support, streaming/connectivity, and immersive audio/room calibration support.

Criticisms were far fewer but recurring: some reviewers pointed out that the 770H adds little new over prior models and lacks certain higher‑end features, with several saying it doesn’t meaningfully differentiate from the previous unit. A handful of reviewers noted practical connectivity annoyances or limitations (needing to enable 8K Enhanced for 4K@120 passthrough, removal of legacy composite connections, and Zone 2 causing channel reductions). A smaller set raised value/availability concerns in specific markets or recommended the 760H instead, and a couple mentioned modest power/amplification limitations or missing conveniences like quick media switching.
